Band : Escape
Origin : Cuba
Genre : Heavy Metal
Until Sepultura and AudioSlave came to perform in Cuba, the world didn't
know about the growing community of headbangers and frikis who rock the
island. Cuba is more than tobacco, rum and salsa. Cuba is the home of
Escape, the voice of Cuban metal. Driven by the powerful bomba of
drummer Alejandro Padron, and the explosive vocals of Yando Coy, Escape
is the premiere heavy metal band in Cuba. Dark and melodious keyboard
player, Jenifer Hernandez, daughter of world recognized drummer Horacio
"El Negro" Hernandez, adds a distinct sound unmatched by other metal
bands internationally. Bassist Alejandro de la Torres and rhythm guitar
player Justo Valdez blow the audience away while Yanio Lee entrances
them with his hypnotic guitar solos. ESCAPE has been featured in the
film Havana Blues and were recipients of the prestigious LUCAS award two
years ago for their video FADING AWAY. They are currently the focus of a
documentary on heavy metal in Cuba directed by Tracey Noelle Luz to be
released in NYC in July of 2010.
